It opened in 2001 and is known as one of the best museums in the world which deals with 20th century South Africa. The main permanent exhibition walks you through the history of South Africa from colonialism to democracy with a special focus on the Apartheid era. There are also temporary exhibitions which aim at starting conversations on contemporary issues which can lead to solutions.
